KTEC Elementary School, part of KTEC Schools of Innovation, enrolls students in grades 4K through 5. In our earliest grades, we help students build the core academic and character skills they will need to thrive in their adult lives.
A KTEC Elementary School education includes:

Adaptable, Personalized Instruction. Students learn in an environment that adapts to their needs, working in small groups with individual attention from teachers as well as participating in collaborative lessons with the whole class.
Inquiry-Based Learning. Students are encouraged to ask questions and explore topics deeply, fostering a strong foundation of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Focus on the Whole Child. Students learn Future Readiness Skills like cooperation and self-regulation, and express their creativity through music and art.

Our Curriculum

Literacy
We offer a balanced literacy approach designed to foster strong reading and writing skills. Students learn to read aloud and to read collaboratively with others; engage in word study to learn vocabulary and spelling; engage in guided reading as well as independent reading; and complete writing assignments tailored to their age and development.

Science
We infuse science and technical knowledge across our curriculum. Students learn via engaging and interactive programs such as Project Lead the Way and Coder Z. We partner with Snap-On to introduce students to basic engineering and technology concepts through hand-tool programs. And we use approaches like Lego Education to encourage students to have fun with science, teaching scientific and engineering principles through play and exploration with Lego bricks.

Mathematics
We introduce key mathematical concepts and encourage students to problem-solve. We provide resources that connect what students are learning with real-world experiences, introducing concrete examples like a set of turning gears and using them to illustrate abstract concepts like ratios.

Social Studies
We teach social studies via project-based learning units tailored to each grade level. Students learn how to research and complete projects that explore historical events, cultural studies, and contemporary social issues. We foster collaborative learning through group activities that encourage teamwork and the development of social and communication skills.
Career Recognition
KTEC Elementary School students begin to learn about the different career paths available to adults. They observe individuals’ skills, passions, and professional activities and learn about what career paths might connect to them. We introduce basic concepts from in-demand fields like electrical engineering, and connect them to concepts that students are learning in their math and science classes.
Future Readiness Skills
We believe that even our youngest learners can benefit from developing their social, interpersonal, and character skills. Our focus on Character, Collective, and Career is taught in age-appropriate ways across all grades. For elementary students, that means:
