Career-Focused Education in Kenosha | KTEC Schools of Innovation 4K–12

Published On: April 10th, 2025

At KTEC Schools of Innovation, we believe that preparing students for the careers of tomorrow starts today—and it starts early. Located right here in Kenosha, Wisconsin, KTEC is a public charter school serving students in grades 4K–12, combining academic excellence with technical education and hands-on learning experiences that lead to real-world success.

Real Skills, Real Experience – Right in High School

One shining example of our approach is happening in our high school Technical Foundations 2 class, where students are applying their Snap-on Hand Tool Identification and Precision Measurement certifications to a real-world construction project.

Students are learning by doing—designing and building a sample wall from the ground up. They created blueprints, measured and cut the wood, and are preparing to add electrical wiring, a switch, drywall, and even finish it off with mudding. These are the same technical skills used every day in the skilled trades, and our students are already gaining experience many don’t see until trade school or their first job.

This is more than just a class project—it’s a career-launching opportunity.

Career Pathways That Start Early and Stay Strong

At KTEC, we don’t wait until high school to introduce students to careers. We begin exploring career pathways as early as elementary school. By middle school, students start discovering hands-on opportunities in Information Systems, Building Trades, Transportation, and Automation & Robotics. In high school, students can earn industry-recognized certifications and even college credits, giving them a head start on both college and career.

KTEC is proud to partner with local leaders like Gateway Technical College and Snap-on, giving students access to cutting-edge tools, experiences, and guidance from professionals in the field.

These experiences are designed to meet the growing demand for skilled workers—both here in Kenosha County and across the nation.

A Seamless 4K–12 Experience: New Expansion Coming in 2025

Starting in the 2025–2026 school year, KTEC will expand to include a new elementary and middle school—joining our high school on one unified campus. This will provide students and families with a seamless 4K–12 educational journey, where students grow in innovation, creativity, and critical thinking from day one through graduation.

This expansion reinforces our commitment to creating a school that reflects the future—one that connects academics, technical education, and future-readiness in everything we do.

We live in a time of rapid innovation—and our students need schools that are ready for it. KTEC Schools of Innovation is proud to be Kenosha’s destination for academic excellence, career readiness, and a future-focused education that prepares students to lead in college, career, and life.
