Why did you become a teacher?
I believe that Art is for everyone and every student is an artist in their own way. I teach to encourage exploration, curiosity, and confidence through a wide range of art mediums. My classroom is a vibrant and welcoming space where experimentation is encouraged and artistic voice is celebrated. I am dedicated to nurturing skills, self-expression, critical thinking, and a lifelong appreciation for the visual arts. I love when students have those ‘lightbulb’ moments making connections and truly admiring something unique they created!
What’s one thing you’d love for KTEC families to know about you?
Outside of being an art teacher in the classroom, I am also an artist myself- my favorite medium is reduction printmaking on linoleum, followed by acrylic and watercolor painting. I absolutely love large-scale, collaborative, public artwork! I painted the mural on The Sharing Center in Trevor, WI. At my previous school, I also started a mural club and painted over seven different murals around the school. When not creating, my family keeps me the busiest! I have a two year old daughter, Olive, and eight year old son, Leo, and we love to spend time biking, camping, gardening, going to concerts, and going on adventures!
