Why did you become a teacher?
Teaching is hard. It takes time, patience and grit. You have to be willing to adapt to change and be extremely open minded and open hearted to what each day will have to offer. As an educator you have to realize the impact you truly have on your students. How you interact with them will determine your success but more importantly, their success. Students need structure and routine. They need to feel loved and cared for. Students need to laugh and smile often. Students need to feel safe.
My goal as an educator is to create a welcoming, safe, structured, hands on learning environment where all children are excited and motivated to learn. I want my students to walk away from my lessons knowing I will always be there for them and know they matter and can make a huge difference in this world.
What’s one thing you’d love for KTEC families to know about you?
My name is Shannon Domenk and I am not only an educator but a mother, coach, and mentor. My husband Tony and I live in Pleasant Prairie with our two little “rugrats” Spencer and Madison and our German Shorthair Pointer, Jager. We believe in family values and try our best to instill in our family what it means to be respectful and responsible. We are extremely loving and laughter is often heard in our household. We love spending time with family and friends and being outdoors. If we could be anywhere, we’d be enjoying the north woods. Besides that, we love traveling, playing sports together and rooting on our favorite Chicago teams!
