Why did you become a teacher?
I have known that I wanted to teach since I was a little girl. Growing up with 4 younger brothers, we were always playing school as kids. I learned early on the importance of patience. Even in the same family, personalities differ which helped me to become a diverse teacher and avoid a one-sized fits all approach. As an educator, I want to create an affirming, supportive environment in which all students can engage meaningfully and thrive both personally and academically. I strive to create a safe and welcoming classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported. Growing up in a big family taught me the joy and responsibility of guiding others.
What’s one thing you’d love for KTEC families to know about you?
I live with my husband, two sons, and our Black Lab, Oreo. My teaching philosophy focuses on empowering students to take ownership of their learning. As a facilitator, I provide the tools, encouragement, and structure that allows students to ask questions, collaborate meaningfully, and discover knowledge for themselves. I believe in creating a supportive, student-centered environment where learners feel safe to take risks and grow both personally and academically. Outside of work, I enjoy running outdoors and exploring new coffee spots.
